Capacity Building Workshop
Leading Multi-Generational Teams & Strategic Board Recruitment
Workshop Overview
This workshop is designed to give nonprofit leaders in Huntington County a practical, engaging learning experience focused on strengthening both leadership and organizational effectiveness. Through interactive discussion, shared learning and real-world application, participants will explore how to work more effectively across generations and how to build stronger, more intentional boards. The day is structured to provide useful tools, fresh perspective and meaningful connections that participants can take back to their organizations.
Session 1 – Fusion: Leading Multi-Generational Teams
The workshop will begin with Fusion: Leading Multi-Generational Teams, an interactive session focused on understanding the generational differences that shape communication, expectations and workplace dynamics. Participants will explore how social, political and economic influences have shaped the experiences of the Greatest Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials and Generation Z. This session is designed to help nonprofit leaders strengthen collaboration, improve communication and better engage team and board members across generations.
Session 2 – Strategic Board Recruitment
The second section of the workshop will focus on Strategic Board Recruitment. In this session, participants will look at how to move beyond informal board recruitment and take a more intentional, mission-driven approach to building strong boards. Discussion will include identifying the skills, experiences and community connections needed on a board, assessing current strengths and gaps and thinking through practical strategies for recruiting and onboarding new members. Attendees will leave with ideas and tools they can use to strengthen board development within their own organizations.
Connection and Practical Application
Throughout the day, participants can expect a learning experience that is both practical and collaborative. In addition to gaining new ideas and frameworks, attendees will have opportunities to reflect, discuss and connect with other nonprofit leaders. The workshop is designed not only to provide useful training, but also to support stronger relationships and shared learning across the local nonprofit community.
