Andrews First Christian Church Closing Leads to Memorial Scholarship
Blog
When Andrews First Christian Church closed its doors in October of 2005, they were left with a dilemma of what to do with funds leftover from the Church. Eventually in 2006, the Church turned to the Huntington County Community Foundation (HCCF) to create an endowed scholarship to benefit the descendants of former church members or students living in Dallas Township and/or Polk Township north of the Salamonie River.
Currently, former church members Mary Harlan, Marcia Smith, and Opal Millman serve on the Andrews First Christian Church Scholarship Committee. These three read through each application and make recommendations to HCCF regarding the scholarship recipients.
In over a decade, the Andrews First Christian Church Scholarship has awarded 29 students $21,600 in financial aid. We congratulate Jacob Allred, Erin Burke, Sarah Hunnicutt, and Madison Jennings for being 2017 Andrews First Christian Church Scholars!
