Vera & Lydia Wolfe Community Fund Announcement

Community Impact

The Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the Vera & Lydia Wolfe Community Fund, which exists to support local charitable organizations, projects and initiatives through the Foundation’s yearly grant cycles. Vera, 13, and Lydia, 11, were inspired to use their savings from a successful potholder business to establish a fund that gives back to local nonprofits seeking to improve quality of life in Huntington County. Their story is the perfect example that giving back can begin at any age, and everyone has their own special way of making a difference.

Vera and Lydia started their potholder business in 2020 selling products at the local consignment shop, Whimzy. Each month, the girls chose a different organization together, such as the Huntington County Humane Society and Blessings in a Backpack, to receive the proceeds. After closing their shop, Vera and Lydia decided to use their remaining funds to establish a Community Fund with the Foundation to keep their spirit of giving back alive forever.

Vera and Lydia both currently attend middle school at Huntington County Community Schools. Vera is dedicated to her involvement with piano, school volleyball, club volleyball and babysitting. Lydia is committed to her involvement with cheerleading, trumpet and dance. Both girls participate in Markle Church of Christ Youth Group and volunteer locally.

Vera and Lydia’s parents, Trent and Melissa Wolfe, expressed that they have entrusted the Huntington community to educate, support and empower their daughters to become the best versions of themselves. They believe giving back keeps that cycle going and ensures lifelong community success.

Together, the family believes there is no place like home and having the opportunity to invest in the local community means everything to them. Vera and Lydia are proud knowing the money they earned from time spent making potholders will continue to bless the Huntington community for generations to come.

The Foundation is honored to hold such a meaningful fund and uphold Vera and Lydia’s passion for giving back. Those interested in contributing to the Vera & Lydia Wolfe Community Fund can donate here.
